We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong electrical troubleshooting abilities to support operations in a modern, food-grade industrial bakery. This role offers a unique blend of mechanical and electrical work, providing exposure to conveyors, motors, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics, and a variety of industrial systems.

What You'll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a critical role in maintaining production equipment and minimizing downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.
  • Maintain and repair belt-driven and chain-driven conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and three-phase motors.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems ranging from 24V controls through 480V industrial power systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and electrical control circuits.
  • Assist with VFDs, motor controls, and higher-voltage systems alongside senior technicians and contractors.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair equipment using a variety of machine shop and maintenance tools.
  • Respond quickly to equipment failures to reduce production downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation.
  • Follow all food safety, GMP, and workplace safety standards.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Three-phase motors
    • Motor controls
    • Conveyors
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatic systems
  • PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food manufacturing or bakery experience.
  • Experience with PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair experience
  • Experience with machine shop equipment including:
    • Lathes
    • Mills
    • Drill presses
    • Hydraulic presses
    • Metal cutting saws

Work Schedule

Night Shift

  • 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Rotating 12-hour schedule:
    • 2 days on / 2 days off
    • 3 days on / 3 days off
  • Initial training on day shift for approximately 3 to 4 weeks

Work Environment

This position is located in a climate-controlled, food-grade industrial bakery. You'll work with a close-knit maintenance team in a unionized environment supporting a wide variety of production equipment and systems.

Requirements include:

  • Steel-toe footwear
  • Safety glasses
  • Hair and beard nets (when applicable)
  • Compliance with food safety and GMP standards
  • Employees should be comfortable working around food production equipment, machinery noise, and varying production aromas.

This is a Permanent position based out of North Liberty, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $79664.00 - $79664.00/yr.
