Position Overview
As the Regional Vice President in our Affordable Housing business unit, you’ll set strategy, goals, and objectives for assigned regions and properties while leading a team of Regional Managers to maximize CNOI. You’ll partner closely with the Sr. Vice President of Property Management and collaborate across the organization to drive performance, strengthen compliance, and elevate the resident and team experience.
This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys building strong teams, and brings deep expertise in LIHTC and other affordable housing programs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and performance
Lead and develop a team of Regional Managers to maximize CNOI across assigned regions and properties
Provide leadership and support that ensures KPG’s core values of Culture, Community, and Commitment are embedded throughout the regional business units
Hold Property Managers and Regional Managers accountable for performance expectations and operational standards
Operational oversight and execution
Conduct property visits three days per week to evaluate operations, support teams, and drive improvements
Host bi-weekly KPI review meetings (operational reviews) with each Regional Manager to share insights, evaluate results, and strategize performance improvements
Participate in monthly Portfolio Reviews with the Sr. Vice President of Property Management and Director of Operations
Participate in monthly and quarterly portfolio performance meetings with Executive Management
Budgeting and strategic planning
Review and present operating budgets to the Sr. Vice President of Property Management and Executive Management
Assist the Sr. Vice President of Property Management in identifying strategic direction for the department
Develop and recommend policies aligned with KPG’s strategic direction
Affordable housing compliance and industry expertise
Ensure adherence to Section 42 and Section 8 rules and regulations across the portfolio
Maintain strong working knowledge of Fair Housing and Landlord Tenant Laws
Remain current on local, state, and federal affordable housing issues and share key updates with internal stakeholders
Cross-functional partnership and portfolio growth
Collaborate effectively with Accounting, Compliance, Development, Legal, Construction, Finance, and Human Resources
Provide assistance and strategic direction for acquisitions and dispositions
Support other duties and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Sr. Vice President of Property Management
Qualifications
Experience and education
10 to 15 years of multifamily, multi-location property management experience required
CPM preferred
Four-year degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Affordable housing expertise
Comprehensive knowledge of LIHTC housing programs
General understanding of additional Federal and State housing programs
Proven ability to ensure compliance with Section 42 and Section 8 requirements
Leadership and communication
Demonstrated success leading high-visibility and or performance-challenged properties
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and build high-performing teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create proposals and presentations for a wide variety of audiences
Strategic, creative, and clear thinking in high-stress scenarios involving owners, employees, and residents
Technical and analytical skills
Solid quantitative, analytical, and financial skills
Experience with property management software; Yardi preferred
Advanced Microsoft Word skills; proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and internet-based tools
Travel requirements
Ability to travel heavily to assigned regions by airplane and car, up to 80 percent of the time
