Lead with Purpose. Deliver Excellence.
Are you an experienced custodial professional who knows how to motivate a team, maintain high cleaning standards, and keep operations running smoothly?
Wildcat, part of The Fedcap Group, is seeking a hands-on Janitorial Supervisor to lead custodial teams supporting New York City's Department of Homeless Services (DHS) shelter facilities.
This is an opportunity to put your leadership skills and commercial cleaning expertise to work in an environment where cleanliness, safety, professionalism, and service truly matter.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just supervise the work—but knows how to lead by example, coach employees, solve problems, and build a team that takes pride in delivering results.
What You'll Do
Lead and Develop Your Team
- Supervise, train, motivate, coach, and support custodial staff across assigned shelter locations.
- Coordinate daily assignments, schedules, attendance, and team productivity.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and address performance concerns.
Maintain High Cleaning Standards
- Oversee daily custodial operations in restrooms, offices, hallways, kitchens, dormitories, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Coordinate specialty cleaning, including floor stripping, waxing, polishing, carpet extraction, steam cleaning, and deep cleaning.
- Conduct routine inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure services meet contractual quality standards.
- Promote safe chemical handling, proper equipment use, and workplace safety practices.
Build Strong Customer Partnerships
- Serve as a key point of contact for DHS site leadership.
- Respond professionally to service concerns and operational needs.
- Build positive working relationships with employees, site personnel, and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree or equivalent level of education and training; additional certifications or licenses are valued.
- Ideally 3+ years of commercial janitorial or custodial experience, including cleaning chemicals, equipment, floor care, and specialty cleaning.
- Ideally 2+ years of supervisory experience leading teams of five or more employees.
- Demonstrated ability to coach employees, manage performance, resolve issues, and maintain service quality.
- Strong communication, customer-service, and practical problem-solving skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Valid U.S. driver's license preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
The right fit: A hands-on leader with a strong background in commercial cleaning and custodial operations—not someone whose primary experience is in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or residential building repairs.
Schedule and Compensation
Full-Time | 40+ Hours per Week
Available shifts:
- 1st Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- 3rd Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
Competitive Hourly Compensation
- Weekdays: $34.76/hour
- Weekends: $53.14/hour
- Additional $13.00/hour that may be applied toward Health & Welfare benefits or contributed toward a 403(b) retirement plan, subject to plan terms.
Assignments are at NYC DHS shelter locations throughout the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. Travel between assigned sites may be required.
