Qualification and Competencies
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Three (3) years of previous related experience preferred.
- Demonstrates organizational and communication skills which would enable effective interaction with agency staff, consumers/clients/families, and the community.
- Critical thinking and sound judgement skills are necessary.
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
General Description
To perform general maintenance and repairs for all agency owned or rented properties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs for all SAIL owned properties and rented properties. Perform routine maintenance on each assigned site as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs general plumbing and electrical repairs to different facility’s equipment and systems.
- Conducts preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical and HVAC (i.e. changing filters and/or adjusting thermostats) systems continue operating properly.
- Performs general cleaning tasks in different facility sites.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning and maintenances supplies.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance, with the approval of the Properties Manager.
- Assists with moves of consumers and storage items in conjunction with program staff.
- Reviews assigned work orders and updates progress, or completion as needed via the electronic record. Coordinates and communicates to program staff as needed.
- Conducts utility meter readings, servicing of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors for all sites as needed.
- Coordinates inspections and maintenance of Agency vehicles. May be responsible for drop-offs and pick-ups of routine vehicle maintenance.
- Be available for property maintenance such as snow removal, landscaping, gutter cleaning, painting and/or exterminators.
- Inspects and identifies tools, equipment, or machines in need of repair.
- Organizes and maintains storage facility and/or garages.
- Assists with meeting with outside vendors or contractors as necessary.
- Be proactive to provide feedback or new suggestions to enhance, develop and/or implement departmental procedures to direct supervisor as needed.
- Submits all documentation in a timely manner.
- Participates in regularly scheduled team or supervision meetings.
- Accepts and follows through with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Demand and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift a minimum and carry 75 pounds.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and/or crawl into small/shallow spaces (ie. Basement crawl spaces)
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Close in-person interaction with clients, staff, and/or outside community representatives
- Required to take all mandatory training and/or specialized safety trainings.
- Adheres to HIPPA Policies & Procedures/Compliance Plan.
