At Sealed Air, we are looking for a technically strong Maintenance Manager to join our Holyoke, MA facility, who can go beyond equipment reliability to drive manufacturing performance, process optimization, and continuous improvement within our plastic film extrusion operations.

\n

In this role, you will lead and develop a technical maintenance team while ensuring equipment reliability, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness. You will combine hands-on expertise in extrusion technology with the ability to solve complex technical challenges, improve manufacturing processes, and support product development initiatives.

You will play a key role in strengthening operational capabilities, developing technical talent, and implementing sustainable improvements that support our long-term manufacturing objectives.

  • Lead and develop the maintenance and technical teams, strengthening troubleshooting capabilities, technical expertise, and operational performance through training, coaching, and standardized work practices.
  • \n

  • Optimize plastic film extrusion processes by establishing and maintaining critical operating parameters, improving production rates, reducing scrap and raw material consumption, and supporting equipment start-up, shutdown, and process stabilization.
  • \n

  • Drive equipment reliability and maintenance performance through preventive maintenance strategies, structured troubleshooting, and improvements in equipment availability, OEE, and unplanned downtime.
  • \n

  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting extrusion equipment, including extruders, dies, air rings, Internal Bubble Cooling (IBC) systems, thickness control systems, corona treaters, winders, and associated automation systems.
  • \n

  • Partner with Product Development, Quality, Sales, and Marketing to support new product qualifications, optimize film formulations, address customer-specific requirements, and resolve technical product complaints.
  • \n

  • Ensure product quality and process consistency by monitoring critical film properties, including thickness variation, tensile strength, elongation, haze, clarity, coefficient of friction (COF), seal strength, and dart impact, implementing root-cause analysis and corrective actions when needed.
  • \n

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen methodologies, while supporting equipment upgrades, new line installations, energy efficiency, sustainability, and manufacturing digitalization projects.
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements, leading risk assessments, promoting safe handling of materials and equipment, and maintaining effective SOPs, work instructions, and technical standards.

What do you need to be successful?

\n


\n

  • Bachelor's degree required; Engineering or a related technical field strongly preferred.
  • \n

  • Minimum of 6 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in plastic film extrusion.
  • \n

  • 3–5 years of experience in maintenance leadership roles.
  • \n

  • Strong technical knowledge of plastic film extrusion processes, equipment, and process optimization.
  • \n

  • Experience with preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and troubleshooting of extrusion machinery.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, extrusion controls, and electromechanical systems.
  • \n

  • Understanding of film properties, product testing, laboratory procedures, and quality control methods.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and equipment performance indicators, including OEE.
  • \n
