Job Title/Position: Clinical Services Manager (RN)

Reports To: Director of Clinical Services

About the role:

The Clinical Services Manager (RN) is responsible for the overall direction of hospice clinical services. The Clinical Services Manager establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
  2. Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation and administration of the organization's budget.
  3. Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues, or expenses.
  4. Evaluates performance of team.
  5. Assists and develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of clinicians and supportive care staff.
  6. Assists with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of organization personnel.
  7. Conducts annual evaluations on clinicians and supportive care staff, or more frequently if indicated.
  8. Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
  9. Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  10. Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services.
  11. Develops, implements, and evaluates the orientation program for new organization personnel. Responsible for orientation of new organization personnel, directly or delegated.
  12. Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of organization personnel.
  13. Assists with the evaluation of organization performance via performance improvement program, productivity, quarterly and annual reviews. Assures for the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided through the Organization.
  14. Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers Organization policies and procedures.
  15. Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of organization personnel and maintains compliance to the CHAP hospice standards.
  16. Informed about changes in the field of nursing and hospice care, shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
  17. Promotes hospice referrals in the health care community.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in nursing is must.
  2. Master's degree in nursing or related healthcare field, preferred.
  3. Maintains an active nursing license that is in good standings in the state of Indiana.
  4. At least 3-5 years of experience in healthcare management, hospice, or palliative care and/or training in end-of-life care preferred.
  5. At least 2-5 years of experience with Medicare Hospice Certification as well as CHAP guidelines preferred.
  6. Knowledge of hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group.
  7. Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn department and job-specific software systems.
  8. Demonstrate organizational skills.
  9. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Demonstrate analytical skills when problem-solving. Demonstrate high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
