Powell builds switchgear that powers industry. As a Senior Facilities Reliability Technician at our Houston, TX, 77075 site, you’ll be the steady hand ensuring our buildings, utilities, and shop environments enable safe, uninterrupted production.
The challenge
Picture starting your 2nd Shift (Mon–Thurs, 2:00pm–10:30pm; OT as needed). A work order pings for a lighting outage, a minor plumbing leak needs attention, and a new piece of industrial equipment is scheduled for installation. You triage, fix, coordinate, and document—keeping the plant on track.
Your impact
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance spanning carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
- Resolve small plumbing issues and restore lighting quickly and safely
- Repair sheetrock, paint, and complete office make-ready projects
- Partner with and assist maintenance technicians and other plant personnel
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems for safe, efficient operation
- Assist with installing new equipment; coordinate outside contractors when needed
- Maintain a well-organized inventory of parts, tools, and consumables
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years of experience in a facilities maintenance group
- Hands-on skill with shop equipment: sanders, drill press, forklift, and scissor lift
- Ability to perform new electrical installations for industrial equipment and repair existing industrial electrical systems
- Strong safety habits aligned with industrial procedures and policies
- Effective communicator with a basic command of the English language, written and verbal
- Self-starter who also collaborates well within a team
Where and how you’ll work
- Temperature-controlled warehouse and manufacturing plant with some outdoor assignments exposing you to hot and cold conditions
- Occasional offsite support within the Greater Houston area (less than 5%)
Physical requirements
- Balance and agility to prevent falls while walking, standing, crouching, and using stairs
- Frequent bending at waist and knees with repetitive reaching and extension
- Standing/walking for long periods, up to an entire shift
- Lift and handle 60+ lbs. repeatedly during a single workday
- Manual tasks requiring finger and palm pressure (typing, punching, pressing)
