Role Impact
As part of an aseptic beverage manufacturing company the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the facility, specifically during the weekend shift. This position will supervise/assist a team of maintenance and electrical technicians, while serving as the point of contact with other departments over the weekend, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the equipment and facility.
Responsibilities
- Supervises/assists a team of maintenance and electrical technicians; ensuring they are properly trained, equipped, and motivated to perform their duties during the shift.
- Oversees and assists with preventative maintenance activities for process and facility equipment.
- Oversees and assists with the calibrations of facility equipment.
- Conducts regular inspections of equipment and facilities, identifying maintenance needs, and preparing plans to correct issues.
- Coordinates with the Head of Maintenance, Maintenance Planner, and the Maintenance Clerk to ensure that parts are available for preventative maintenance, ensures proper spare parts stock levels are maintained for equipment and facilities support.
- Coordinates with other departments, including production, quality, and sanitation, to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt production schedules or compromise product quality.
- Assists the Head of Maintenance in monitoring and controlling maintenance costs to ensure adherence to the planned budget.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, such as FDA and HACCP.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new production equipment, facility equipment, and upgrades to equipment and facilities, including the validation process.
- Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
- Adhere to the maintenance records, reports, and documentation process to ensure the CMMS system is accurate.
- Coordinate with the Head of Maintenance and Vendors to organize maintenance activities and planned downtime.
- Coordinates maintenance activities during unplanned downtime to minimize future planned downtime for preventative maintenance and general maintenance tasks.
- Responsible for ensuring maintenance policies and procedures, used to assist with providing a safe and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities, are followed by team members.
- Ensures maintenance team is following proper safety procedures and addresses any safety concerns with Engineering and EH&S teams.
Education
- HS Diploma required.
- Degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience & Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing facility preferred.
- Must have high level knowledge of the operation and impacts of the facility utilities, production, and clean in place system.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic filling and packaging systems, as well as other beverage manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and the planning of PM’s and calibrations.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and controlling costs.
- Knowledge of applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, such as FDA and HACCP.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Availability to work extended hours as necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb up and down ladders and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to use hands and arms to reach, push, pull, lift, carry and manipulate materials and tools
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb constantly throughout the shift
- Ability to reach, bend, twist, rotate, push and pull frequently.
- Must be able to work around equipment that contains electromagnetic components.
