About the Role
Smile4Life Security Protection Corp. is seeking reliable, observant, and professional Event Security Guards to join our special-events team. Event Security Guards will be contacted as assignments become available for parades, festivals, concerts, private functions, community events, corporate events, and other special occasions.
This is an on-call position with no guaranteed weekly schedule or minimum number of hours. Events may take place during the day, evening, overnight, on weekends, or on holidays. Selected guards may accept or decline assignments based on their availability; however, guards who confirm an assignment are expected to arrive on time and complete the entire scheduled shift.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence.
- Monitor event entrances, exits, restricted areas, and assigned posts.
- Check credentials, tickets, badges, wristbands, or guest lists when required.
- Assist with crowd control and maintain designated barriers and event routes.
- Protect VIP, backstage, staging, vendor, and staff-only areas.
- Help maintain appropriate spacing between vehicles, floats, performers, or event participants.
- Observe and report suspicious activities, safety hazards, disturbances, or emergencies.
- Provide guests with professional directions and assistance.
- Follow event-specific post orders and instructions from supervisors and management.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and other security personnel.
- Complete incident and activity reports when required.
- Assist with emergency procedures, evacuations, and coordination with first responders.
- Remain at the assigned post until properly relieved or dismissed by a supervisor.
Qualifications
- A current New York State Security Guard Registration Card is required.
- Prior security, crowd-control, hospitality, or special-event experience is preferred.
- Must be dependable, punctual, alert, and professional.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must possess strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Must be able to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in crowded or stressful situations.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when required.
- Must have reliable transportation to assigned event locations.
- Must have access to a working telephone and respond promptly to scheduling communications.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Scheduling Expectations
- Assignments will be offered based on event needs and the guard’s availability.
- Some opportunities may be offered with limited or same-day notice.
- Guards must confirm whether they are accepting or declining an assignment.
- Accepting an assignment is a commitment to report on time and remain for the full shift.
- Shift lengths, locations, duties, dress requirements, and pay rates may vary by event.
- Attendance at a pre-event briefing, training session, or walkthrough may be required.
- Weekend and holiday availability is strongly preferred.
Uniform and Appearance
Event Security Guards must maintain a clean, professional appearance and follow the uniform instructions provided for each assignment. The required attire may include a company uniform, suit, security polo, reflective vest, or other event-specific clothing.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate understands that event security requires both firmness and professionalism. They are comfortable working with the public, following a chain of command, managing crowds, protecting restricted areas, and responding appropriately when conditions change.
