Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Event Custodian to join our team. The role involves working shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and occasionally on Thursday. Hours begin an hour before and end an hour after each event, ranging from 4-6 hours, and occasionally extending to 8 hours if more than one event is worked.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests with enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with venue setup and breakdown before and after events.
- Clean floors, ramps, and stairs through sweeping, wet mopping, dust mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Gather and empty recycling and trash.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning methods.
- Clean, replace, and hang blinds, drapes, and entrance mats.
- Clear sidewalks, drives, and adjacent areas, including snow removal as necessary.
- Collaborate with IU Athletics and Event Services teams for smooth operations.
Essential Skills
- Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, janitorial duties, including mopping, sweeping, dusting, and sanitizing.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to bend and squat to reach hard-to-clean places.
- Capability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs., as furniture may need moving for cleaning purposes.
- Ability to perform work requiring medium to heavy physical effort.
- Customer service mindset and the ability to interact positively with students and faculty.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions.
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
- Previous customer service or event experience is a plus.

This is a Contract position based out of Bloomington, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
