Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the Operations Department by ensuring that Prevention Links' buildings and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This role performs hands-on maintenance tasks, coordinates with vendors, and helps maintain accurate records of building operations and repair activities. The Facilities Maintenance Technician works closely with the Operations Coordinator to carry out both preventive and emergency maintenance and contribute to smooth daily operations.
Essential Job Function / Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC work.
- Conduct regular property inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
- Maintain and repair building appliances, fixtures, and mechanical systems as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair needs to minimize disruption.
- Building Management
- Monitor interior and exterior areas (e.g., offices, conference rooms, parking lots, recreation spaces) for safety, cleanliness, and operational condition.
- Collaborate with vendors for janitorial services, pest control, and waste management.
- Support timely completion and quality assurance for contracted work on property.
- Monitor critical building systems (e.g., boilers, elevators, fire alarms) to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical systems and equipment.
- Administrative Duties
- Keep accurate logs of all maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and equipment usage.
- Assist with managing maintenance supply inventory and procurement needs.
- Coordinate budgetary requests for repair services and supply purchases with supervisor.
- Report major repair needs, hazards, or system failures to the Operations Coordinator or designated supervisor immediately.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that building operations are in compliance with all local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA and fire safety regulations.
- Conduct routine safety drills and assist in emergency preparedness training.
- Maintain relevant certifications and stay current with best practices and regulations.
5. Emergency Response
- Serve as part of the on-call team for emergencies outside normal business hours.
- Respond quickly and effectively to incidents to protect property and occupants.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or technical certification in building trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in general building maintenance or facilities support.
- Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks related to maintenance work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- English language proficiency required for communication with team members, and to follow safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site position with occasional evening or weekend hours for emergency response.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Regular contact with vendors, staff, and facility users.
- The position requires physical work, including lifting and moving heavy objects, climbing stairs, and performing tasks in various weather conditions
