Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Hoboken, NJ
$25–$32/hour | Temp-to-Perm
⏰ Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
We’re hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Mechanic I) to support operations at a water/wastewater treatment facility in Hoboken, NJ. This is a hands-on role for someone with mechanical skills and a passion for keeping utility systems running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, valves, motors, and machinery.
- Lubricate equipment, replace bearings, and adjust regulators.
- Install, align, and commission new equipment.
- Maintain plant buildings (cleaning, painting, basic carpentry).
- Assist with plumbing and pipe fitting as needed.
- Use welding equipment (gas/arc) for cutting, brazing, or welding.
- Support plant safety procedures and respond to emergency repairs.
- Participate in on-call rotation after training.
✅ Key Qualifications:
- 1+ year of mechanical maintenance experience.
- Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Ability to obtain CMRT certification within 3 years of hire.
Preferred:
- Forklift operation experience.
- Experience supporting municipal utility clients.
