We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role involves assisting with the management of the Preventive Maintenance program, scheduling, performing, or overseeing the performance of maintenance tasks, and logging their completion electronically. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in chemical plant operations and be committed to performing work safely, using the proper tools and personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of the Preventive Maintenance program.
- Schedule, perform, or oversee performance of preventive maintenance tasks and log their completion electronically.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls equipment, including PLCs.
- Review new equipment and manage the installation process.
- Write equipment-related procedures for monitoring and preventive maintenance.
- Oversee projects for installations and overhauls.
- Mentor associates with less experience.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Good understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Understanding of electrical safety and AC/DC motors.
- Practical knowledge of OSHA TAGOUT/LOCKOUT procedures.

- Forklift operation.
- Supervision experience.
- Warehouse operation and inventory control.
- Troubleshooting and quality assurance.
- Inspection report management.
- Strong knowledge of safe operating procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- High school level technical degree or greater.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Work Environment
The work environment is not climate-controlled but primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks. The warehouse maintains a comfortable sitting temperature. This position operates on the first shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with after-hours work for breakdowns as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
