EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Inside the building: Clean windows, vacuum carpets, dust furniture, clean bathrooms in its entirety, clean laundry room floors and appliances, clean walls, maintenance areas, stair towers, storage areas; use trash compactor, move furniture and equipment; distribute supplies, etc.; and assist Building Superintendent in all cleaning functions. Use various cleaning tools and supplies to perform a wide variety of cleaning functions. Receives, carries, stores, retrieves supplies, equipment records and objects. Assist in making vacant apartments ready for leasing, as assigned.

Outside the building: Perform general lawn clean-up, clean outside office and entryway windows and doors, shovel snow, pick up trash, clean mechanical equipment rooms, discard trash as appropriate, and assist Building Superintendent in all general maintenance functions, as assigned.

All other duties pertaining to position as assigned by Superintendent and/or as scheduled.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to read, write speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

2. Knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.

3. Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions, to learn quickly from oral and written explanations and from demonstrations, to take needed safety precautions in performing the work, and to take care of tools, equipment, materials and supplies.

4. Ability to work harmoniously with superiors, coworkers, clients, tenants, applicants, landlords, contractors and all others with whom one comes in contact with while performing the duties of this position.

5. Willingness to use or learn to use basic hand and power tools with proficiency.

6. Willingness to assume other responsibilities of a similar nature as assigned.

7. Maintain a consistent record of attendance on the job and report to work on time ready to work.

8. Be of good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health or safety of oneself or others. Physical aspect to the job responsibilities that need to be performed without an accommodation.
