Job Description
This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a versatile Facilities Maintenance Technician to support a warehouse-based operation and multiple field locations. You will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general building upkeep, while maintaining and servicing specialized drink equipment such as espresso and ice machines. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 45-minute lunch, and may occasionally require overnight or weekend shifts. Multiple levels are available (Technician I, II, and III), aligned with experience ranging from 1 to 10 years, providing a clear path for growth and increasing responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance in a warehouse facility and at various client locations, ensuring all systems and equipment operate safely and efficiently.
- Install, change, and repair electrical outlets and troubleshoot electrical issues within the building and related equipment.
- Diagnose and address basic plumbing issues, including identifying leaks, clogs, and other common plumbing problems, and perform appropriate repairs.
- Complete minor carpentry work as needed, such as repairs to fixtures, doors, and other facility structures, including basic drywall and construction tasks.
- Perform HVAC servicing at different client locations, including basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
- Service and maintain drink-related equipment, including drink machines, espresso machines, ice machines, and mixers, following company training and procedures.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform repairs, maintenance, and installations across a variety of building systems and equipment.
- Maintain, organize, and track equipment and parts inventory, especially for Maintenance Technician I roles working primarily in the shop environment.
- For Maintenance Technician II roles, take responsibility for maintaining specific drink equipment such as drink machines and espresso machines, ensuring reliable operation.
- For higher-level technicians (II and III), apply a broader and deeper understanding of building systems and equipment to troubleshoot complex issues and support other team members.
- Perform basic janitorial and facility upkeep duties as needed to keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
- Drive a company vehicle to various locations throughout the Central Valley, ensuring safe travel and timely response to maintenance needs.
- Work in outdoor environments at various locations when required, including in adverse weather conditions, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks, communicate equipment issues, and support continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of maintenance experience for Maintenance Technician I roles, with a focus on shop-based work, equipment upkeep, and parts inventory management.
- 1–3+ years of maintenance experience for Maintenance Technician II roles, with responsibility for specific equipment such as drink machines and espresso machines.
- 3–5 years or more of maintenance experience for higher-level technician roles, with progressively deeper expertise in building systems and equipment.
- Well-rounded maintenance background with hands-on experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to install, change, and repair electrical outlets and troubleshoot electrical issues within a facility.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems, including the ability to diagnose and resolve common plumbing problems.
- Capability to perform minor carpentry tasks, including repairs to facility structures, drywall work, and small construction projects.
- Experience performing HVAC servicing at client locations, including basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and work with mechanical systems and components.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in maintenance, construction, and repair work.
- Experience with building maintenance tasks such as painting, janitorial duties, and general facility upkeep.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, enabling safe operation of a company vehicle.
- Ability to work safely in both indoor and outdoor environments, including warehouse settings and various field locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- EPA Universal certification is a plus and provides added value for HVAC-related work, but it is not required.
- Maintenance certifications are desirable and demonstrate formal training, but they are not mandatory.
- Experience or background in plumbing, including more advanced skills beyond basic repairs, is highly valued.
- Welding experience is considered an asset and supports a broader range of maintenance and repair tasks.
- Woodworking skills, including working with wood structures and fixtures, are beneficial.
- Additional electrical experience, beyond basic outlet work, is advantageous for more complex troubleshooting.
- HVAC-focused experience, including servicing and maintaining HVAC systems, is ideal.
- Previous experience as a handyman or in a skilled trades role that covers multiple disciplines is strongly preferred.
- Comfort working with ice machines and other refrigeration-related drink equipment is beneficial, though direct coffee machine experience is not required.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fresno, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
