This role provides custodial support for an on-site daycare located within an automotive manufacturing plant. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors by performing a wide range of cleaning and general janitorial duties across all daycare areas. Multiple positions are available on both first and second shifts.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize childcare equipment, including toys, furniture, and other frequently used items to support a safe and hygienic environment.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, ensuring supplies such as soap, paper products, and other necessities remain stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, entryways, and shared spaces within the daycare.
- Perform routine janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and trash removal throughout the facility.
- Operate floor scrubbers and other basic cleaning equipment to maintain floors and other surfaces as needed.
- Handle recyclables and waste materials properly, following site guidelines for disposal and recycling.
- Perform pressure washing tasks as needed to maintain exterior or designated interior areas in a clean condition.
- Use basic hand tools safely and effectively to support cleaning and minor custodial tasks.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times to maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and coworkers.
- Support production and daycare operations by keeping all assigned areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Work collaboratively as a team player, assisting with any cleaning or custodial duties that arise, even if they fall outside regular routines.
- Participate in on-site interviews and any required orientations or trainings to understand site-specific cleaning standards and expectations.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general cleaning and janitorial duties in environments such as childcare, industrial, or commercial facilities.
- Ability to complete tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and trash removal efficiently and to a high standard.
- Experience cleaning bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and related fixtures, with attention to hygiene and sanitation.
- Ability to operate floor scrubbers and other standard custodial equipment safely.
- Familiarity with using basic hand tools to support cleaning and custodial work.
- Understanding of and commitment to safety practices in an industrial or production-related environment.
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt to changing tasks, and work effectively as part of a custodial team.
- Reliability and punctuality to support coverage across first and second shifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a daycare, school, or childcare setting is beneficial.
- Background in industrial or manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Comfort working around childcare equipment and ensuring it remains clean and safe.
- Willingness to learn site-specific cleaning procedures and standards.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, orderly environment.

Work Environment
You will work at an on-site daycare located within an automotive manufacturing plant. The facility operates multiple shifts, with first shift running from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and second shift from 4:00 pm to 1:00 am, and roles are available on both shifts. The environment combines aspects of a childcare setting and an industrial site, requiring consistent attention to cleanliness and safety. You will use cleaning tools and equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuums, floor scrubbers, pressure washing equipment, and basic hand tools. The work involves standing, walking, and performing physical tasks throughout the shift. You will participate in an on-site interview and orientation to become familiar with site-specific expectations, safety practices, and procedures. Dress will need to be appropriate for custodial work in a daycare within an industrial facility, prioritizing safety, comfort, and professionalism.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Toney, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
