A well-established heavy industrial manufacturer located southeast of Dearborn is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead mechanical maintenance and plant utility operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for maintaining critical plant equipment and infrastructure while leading skilled maintenance personnel.
The Maintenance Manager will spend significant time on the plant floor, coordinating daily maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, shutdowns, and outages. This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance leader with experience in boilers, steam systems, compressed air, pumps, piping, water systems, and other industrial utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate skilled mechanical maintenance personnel and boiler/utility operators
- Oversee maintenance and reliability of boilers, steam, compressed air, pumps, piping, water, and plant utility systems
- Partner with maintenance planners to schedule and execute preventative and corrective maintenance
- Coordinate repairs, shutdowns, planned outages, and emergency maintenance activities
- Maintain a strong presence on the plant floor, monitoring job progress and resolving maintenance issues
- Ensure required boiler, equipment, and regulatory inspections remain current
- Drive compliance with LOTO, safety procedures, and plant maintenance standards
- Coordinate contractors and outside trades as required
- Identify recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance and maintenance practices
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, Utilities Supervisor, or similar industrial maintenance leader
- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and utility systems
- Experience with boilers/steam, pumps, piping, compressed air, water systems, or related plant utilities
- Previous experience supervising skilled trades or industrial maintenance personnel
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, shutdowns/outages, LOTO, and industrial safety
- Experience within heavy manufacturing, automotive, steel, foundry, chemical, refinery, power generation, paper, food processing, or a similar industrial environment
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and hands-on leadership abilities
