Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Maintenance Department at Avista Nursing and Rehab, a premier provider of subacute, skilled nursing, and long-term care services in Saginaw, Michigan. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and complete daily maintenance functions, developing procedures for performing tasks and coordinating with Nursing Services as needed

• Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents

• Provide administrative support, including completing forms and reports, and submitting accident/incident reports to the Administrator

• Coordinate with the Infection Control and Safety Committees to implement recommendations and ensure a safe and healthy environment

• Supervise and train maintenance personnel, providing guidance on maintenance procedures and ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures

• Ensure equipment and supplies are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored

• Participate in department studies and projects, and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and improving services

• Maintain confidentiality of resident information, ensuring residents' personal and property rights are respected

• Possess a strong understanding of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, and low-voltage alarm systems, as well as department management experience

Requirements:

• Technical school education in HVAC theory and repair or equivalent experience

• Thorough knowledge of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, low-voltage alarm systems, and department management experience

• Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner

• Leadership ability, with a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise non-professional personnel

• Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Maintenance Department

• Flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with residents, personnel, visitors, general public, and outside agencies

Working Conditions:

• Works throughout the facility, including power rooms, resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary, etc.

• Regularly sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours

• Subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.

• Communicates with maintenance personnel and other department personnel

• May be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays

• May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
