Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Maintenance Department at Avista Nursing and Rehab, a premier provider of subacute, skilled nursing, and long-term care services in Saginaw, Michigan. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.
Responsibilities:

Supervise and complete daily maintenance functions, developing procedures for performing tasks and coordinating with Nursing Services as needed

Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents

Provide administrative support, including completing forms and reports, and submitting accident/incident reports to the Administrator

Coordinate with the Infection Control and Safety Committees to implement recommendations and ensure a safe and healthy environment

Supervise and train maintenance personnel, providing guidance on maintenance procedures and ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures

Ensure equipment and supplies are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored

Participate in department studies and projects, and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and improving services

Maintain confidentiality of resident information, ensuring residents' personal and property rights are respected

Possess a strong understanding of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, and low-voltage alarm systems, as well as department management experience
Requirements:

Technical school education in HVAC theory and repair or equivalent experience

Thorough knowledge of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, low-voltage alarm systems, and department management experience

Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner

Leadership ability, with a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise non-professional personnel

Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Maintenance Department
-
Flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with residents, personnel, visitors, general public, and outside agencies
Working Conditions:
-
Works throughout the facility, including power rooms, resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary, etc.

Regularly sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours
-
Subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.

Communicates with maintenance personnel and other department personnel

May be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays
-
May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
