Press Brake Operator 3rd Shift Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced Amada Press Brake Operator to join the 3rdshift production team. This role involves the safe and precise setup and operation of Amada hydraulic and CNC press brake machinery to form sheet metal into accurate components for fixtures. The ideal candidate is skilled, detail-oriented, and familiar with press brake tooling and fabrication workflows.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal according to work orders and blueprints.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine the proper tooling, bend sequence, and tonnage.
- Load, align, and secure metal parts; position workpieces using back gauges or manual alignment before bending.
- Program or adjust controls, perform test bends with scrap material, and finetune settings to ensure precision and quality.
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, bend angles, and surface quality; take corrective action if needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks clean tooling and back gauges, lubricate moving components, and check hydraulic oil.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; monitor machine operation and adjust if misfeeds occur.
- Work collaboratively with welders, assemblers, and quality control personnel to ensure smooth workflow and production throughput.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a press brake operator, ideally with Amada brand equipment.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and welding/fabrication symbols, including GD&T fundamentals.
- Basic CNC/programming experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to perform basic shop math for bend calculations.
- Proficient with precision measuring tools such as calipers, squares, and angle gauges.
- Willingness to work overnight (3rd shift), with a dependable and safety-first approach.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; formal training or certification in metal fabrication or machining is a plus.
