We are seeking an Experienced Access Control & Fire Alarm Technician to support the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial life‐safety and security systems. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem‐solving skills, and the ability to work independently while providing high‐quality service to clients. The ideal candidate has extensive hands‐on experience with access control platforms, fire alarm systems, and low‐voltage infrastructure in commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, and service access control systems, including controllers, card readers, maglocks, electric strikes, REX devices, and integrated door hardware.
- Install, test, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems, including panels, SLC/NAC circuits, initiating devices, notification appliances, and power supplies.
- Perform system programming, device mapping, panel configuration, and network setup for both access control and fire alarm platforms.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance in accordance with NFPA 72, local AHJ requirements, and company standards.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system issues involving wiring, communication failures, device faults, and software conflicts.
- Run, terminate, label, and test low‐voltage cabling (CAT5/6, shielded cable, fire-rated cable) to industry standards.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, submittals, and system schematics.
- Coordinate with general contractors, property managers, IT departments, and AHJs to ensure compliant and efficient system deployment.
- Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, deficiency lists, and material usage logs.
- Provide end‐user training and support on system operation and maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment on job sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience with commercial access control and fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency with platforms such as LenelS2, Brivo, Avigilon, Honeywell, HID, DSX, Openpath, or similar.
- Experience with major fire alarm brands such as Honeywell/FireLite, Silent Knight, Notifier, Bosch, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of low‐voltage wiring, IP networking, PoE, and system integration.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, IBC, and local code requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders/lifts, and operate in various environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Level I–II in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Manufacturer certifications for access control or fire alarm platforms.
- Experience integrating access control with video surveillance, intrusion detection, or building automation.
- Prior project lead or field leadership experience.
