Our client is seeking a detail-oriented experienced Accountant to join their team in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will handle financial reporting and accounting for a portfolio of properties, showcasing your expertise in general ledger management and financial statement preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in accounting and a passion for streamlining processes.


Responsibilities:

• Manage the monthly accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

• Prepare detailed financial reports for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

• Maintain and update the general ledger, handling debits, credits, and other key accounting entries.

• Collaborate with property management teams to provide financial insights and address reporting needs.

• Conduct month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

• Utilize accounting software to streamline processes and improve efficiency in data management.

• Monitor and analyze financial transactions to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.

• Assist in preparing reports for stakeholders, including profit-sharing updates and other financial metrics.

• Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

• Support the team during audits by providing required documentation and explanations.

• At least 5 years of experience in property accounting, including general ledger management.

• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data analysis.

• Familiarity with accounting software and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred, but relevant experience may be considered.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
