Program Overview

Weatherspoon Security is proud to announce the launch of the Public Safety Cohort Program, a new employment initiative designed to recruit, train, and inspire the next generation of security professionals. This cohort-based program will welcome 15–20 entry-level candidates into structured, team-oriented hiring and training classes. Participants will begin their journey in part-time security guard roles, with opportunities to advance to full-time employment and career pathways in public safety.

Whether you are just starting your career at 18 years old, or seeking supplemental income during retirement, this program is designed to provide a supportive entry point into the security industry and open the door to broader opportunities in law enforcement, emergency response, and public safety careers.

Key Program Features

  • Cohort Hiring Model: Join as part of a group of 15–20 new hires, allowing you to train, learn, and grow together.
  • Public Safety Track Training: Receive 40 hours of specialized training covering security fundamentals and core pillars of public safety.
  • Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunities: Begin with flexible scheduling and transition into full-time security positions as openings become available.
  • Professional Development: Exposure to career pathways in security management, law enforcement, and emergency management.

Training Pillars of the Program

The 40-hour training will introduce candidates to the following Pillars of Security and Public Safety:

  1. Foundations of Security Guard Duties – professionalism, presence, and situational awareness.
  2. Customer & Community Engagement – building trust and rapport with residents, businesses, and visitors.
  3. Safety & Emergency Response – fire safety, first aid basics, and crisis response readiness.
  4. Technology in Security – camera monitoring, access control, and reporting systems.
  5. Pathways to Public Safety Careers – exposure to law enforcement, corrections, emergency medical services, and other public safety fields.

  • Age 18 and older (no maximum age requirement).

  • Opportunity for Full-Time Transition: Ongoing, based on performance and availability.
