Facilities & Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Technician to support the Machining Department by maintaining production equipment, performing facility repairs, and assisting with general plant upkeep. This position reports to the Machining Supervisor, with daily work assignments coordinated by the Machining Supervisor and Foreman.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, mechanically inclined professional with experience troubleshooting industrial equipment, performing building maintenance, and supporting continuous improvements throughout the facility. This role requires flexibility to work on a variety of projects, from equipment repairs to facility improvements that help reduce long-term operating costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic control systems under the direction of the Machining Foreman.
  • Work closely with the Machining Foreman to diagnose and resolve equipment issues using established troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist with PLC diagnostics, sensors, instrumentation, and electrical control systems as needed.
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Complete facility maintenance projects, including building repairs, renovations, and general improvements.
  • Perform routine property maintenance including lawn care, weed control, painting, and general housekeeping of the facility and grounds.
  • Assist with roof maintenance and repairs, when qualified and in accordance with company safety requirements.
  • Perform maintenance on plant utilities, conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, piping systems, balers, and other production support equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Machining Supervisor to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize production interruptions.
  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and inventory using SAP or other CMMS software.
  • Work with outside contractors and vendors when specialized services are required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations while performing maintenance activities.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned to support departmental objectives, operational needs, and the overall success of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and industrial controls.
  • Experience using SAP Maintenance Module or other CMMS software.
  • Ability to perform building maintenance and general facility repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training in industrial maintenance or a related skilled trade.
  • Experience supporting machining or metal manufacturing operations.
  • Welding, fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, or general construction experience.
  • Experience with facility improvement projects and preventative building maintenance.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
