Position Overview: The Cardiovascular Echo Technician at MedStar Shah MSO is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. The technician will utilize advanced ultrasonic equipment to capture detailed images and functional data of the heart and associated structures, working in tandem with a dynamic cardiology team dedicated to exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Procedures:
- Conduct comprehensive echocardiographic examinations including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.
- Prepare and position patients for echocardiograms, providing clear instructions to ensure comfort and optimal outcomes.
- Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment to capture precise images and ensure clarity of diagnostic data.
Data Analysis and Documentation:
- Analyze sonographic data to identify normal and abnormal findings in cardiac structures and functions.
- Compile detailed preliminary reports and quantitative data for review by the cardiology team, suggesting potential diagnostic interpretations.
- Maintain accurate patient records, inputting data into MedStar Shah’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
Patient Interaction:
- Ensure a compassionate and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, addressing concerns, and answering questions related to sonographic procedures.
- Uphold patient dignity and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations and MedStar Shah’s privacy policies.
Equipment and Facility Management:
- Keep the sonography area clean and organized, adhering to MedStar Shah’s standards for health, safety, and infection control.
Continuing Education and Team Collaboration:
- Participate in ongoing education to stay current with advancements in cardiac sonography and related medical fields.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team at MedStar Shah MSO to optimize patient care and workflow efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in cardiac sonography, preferably in a multidisciplinary medical office setting.
- Proficient in using medical software and EHR systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology and the ability to perform detailed analyses of sonographic images.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D echocardiography.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to assist in patient positioning and mobility.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced medical office setting within MedStar Shah MSO.
- Regular interaction with patients, some of whom may require additional emotional support or accommodations during procedures.
