This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated liquid filling and packaging equipment in an industrial production environment. The Maintenance Technician ensures production lines run safely, efficiently, and reliably by performing mechanical, electrical, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of machinery and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated liquid fillers, including rotary and inline types, handling 10100 bottles per minute in sizes ranging from 2 oz to 1.5 gallons.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain automated cap appliers and torque units, with preference for Apex brand equipment.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot laser coding equipment, preferably Jet 2, Jet 3, and Domino-type systems.
  • Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain labeling equipment for multiple label types applied to bottles from 2 oz to 1.5 gallons.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain box folders and tapers to ensure reliable packaging operations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair table-top conveyors ranging from 4.5" to 18" wide, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot, change out, and repair AC and DC motors from 0.5 to 20 horsepower to support production equipment.
  • Work with gear drives on multiple types of powered conveyors, including inspection, adjustment, and replacement as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, and maintain diaphragm and gear pumps to ensure consistent fluid handling and transfer.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace automated valves and solenoids to maintain proper flow control and equipment operation.
  • Perform general repairs and line maintenance in an industrial setting, ensuring production equipment remains in optimal working condition.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Apply electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with 3-phase systems, to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety procedures while working on production lines and equipment.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support equipment history and reliability.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in general repairs and line maintenance in an industrial setting.
  • Hands-on experience working on automated liquid fillers, rotary and inline type, handling 10100 bottles per minute and 2 oz to 1.5 gallon sizes.
  • Experience setting up, adjusting, and maintaining automated cap appliers and torque units, preferably Apex brand.
  • Experience with laser coders, preferably Jet 2, Jet 3, and Domino-type systems.
  • Experience with labeling equipment, including setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance for multiple label types on various bottle sizes.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining box folders and tapers used in packaging operations.
  • Experience working with table-top conveyors from 4.5" to 18" wide, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and change out AC and DC motors ranging from 0.5 to 20 horsepower.
  • Gear drive experience on multiple types of powered conveyors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rebuild diaphragm and gear pumps.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and replace automated valves and solenoids.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial maintenance context.
  • Understanding and application of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a production environment.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to work 1st shift, typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Industrial Electronics is preferred.
  • Certificate in a related technical field is preferred.
  • Military equivalent training in industrial maintenance or electronics is preferred.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or compounding environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to perform both corrective and preventive maintenance with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with a variety of production and packaging technologies and equipment.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating work with production and maintenance teams.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work practices consistently.

Work Environment

This position is based in a nontemperature-controlled compounding production environment with strong product-related smells. Work is performed on and around automated liquid filling lines, cap appliers, laser coders, labelers, box folders, tapers, pumps, motors, valves, and conveyors. The schedule is 1st shift, typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The role involves frequent hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as adherence to GMP and safety practices while working in and around active production lines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
