Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Porter/Janitorial Worker to join our team in Brooklyn. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-kept facilities. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a criminal background check.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and wash assigned areas.
- Strip, seal, wax, and buff floors and other hard surfaces.
- Maintain sidewalks and exterior grounds by sweeping, removing debris, raking leaves, and shoveling snow as needed.
- Clean vacant apartments and occupied units as assigned through work orders.
- Sort and package recyclable materials in accordance with NYC recycling regulations.
- Safely operate the building's trash compactor.
- Set up and break down meeting rooms and special events.
- Assist maintenance staff, including painters and engineers, with assigned tasks.
- Travel to other properties or facilities when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check (required).
- Previous porter, janitorial, or custodial experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, walk, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
