American Metals is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support daily operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role is critical to keeping production running safely and efficiently in a metal processing and warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic issues
• Maintain and service shop equipment such as saws, cutters, conveyors, forklifts, and material‑handling systems
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns to minimize downtime
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, tools, and work areas
• Perform basic facility maintenance, including lighting, doors, plumbing, and shop repairs
• Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work records
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and production staff
• Assist with equipment installations and upgrades as needed

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Maintenance Technician, Industrial Maintenance, or similar role
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills; basic electrical knowledge required
• Experience in a manufacturing, metal, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred
• Ability to read basic schematics, manuals, and maintenance documentation
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work on equipment for extended periods
• Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment

Preferred (Not Required)

• Forklift experience or certification
• Welding, fabrication, or machining exposure
• Maintenance certifications or technical training
