A great tech who does it right the first time is worth far more to us than someone stretching a job out, and we pay accordingly. If you are that kind of technician, we should talk.
Redwood City Alarms designs, installs, inspects, and services fire alarm and life safety systems across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. As an authorized Siemens dealer, alongside Potter and Kidde, we service and maintain almost any system in the field. We are a tight-knit team that takes pride in doing things right, and we are growing.
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, test, and inspect fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial and multi-family buildings.
- Perform or assist with routine fire alarm inspections and testing (ITM), as needed.
- Be the reliable, professional face of the company on every service call.
- Keep accurate records of your work, your findings, and your recommendations.
- Step into installation work when the schedule calls for it.
- Take part in an after-hours and on-call rotation. When a life safety system is down, we show up.

We can teach you the systems. We can't teach character, so these are minimum requirements here, not nice-to-haves:

- Follow-through. You close the loop. A job is not done until it is done right and the customer knows it.
- Professional. On every site, in how you dress, speak, and treat people, you represent us well.

- Positive attitude. You bring energy that lifts the job and the team, even on a hard day.
- Problem-solving mentality. The tough, strange troubleshooting call is the part of the day you enjoy most.
- Prepared. You come ready, with tools, parts, and a plan, so you solve problems instead of scrambling.
On top of that, you do it right the first time, you finish what you start, and you would never stretch a job out to pad your hours. You put the team and the customer first, and you keep people's trust by being direct, clear, and kind.
What you bring
- FAS-NICET Level II or higher is our baseline for this role, and we fund your climb to Level III and IV. Bring solid fire alarm or life safety service experience to back it up.
- Working knowledge of fire and life safety code, including NFPA 72.
- A current California Fire/Life Safety Technician certification (the state "blue card").
- A strong plus: Siemens certification, or hands-on experience with Kidde and Potter systems.
- A clean driver's license and willingness to take part in after-hours and on-call work.
- You live within about 50 miles of Redwood City, so you can respond when it matters.
- Attention to detail. In life safety, the details are the job, and you get them right.
- Straight, clear communication with clients and with the team.
Compensation & benefits
- We pay top rate for top techs. Tell us what you are worth, and we will assess the value you bring and pay accordingly. A players earn A-player pay here.
- Prevailing wage on our public and prevailing-wage projects, on top of your regular rate.
- Health and dental insurance. We contribute up to $1,200/month toward your combined coverage for you and your family. You cover any difference above that.
- A path up the NICET ladder that we pay for, with your rate climbing as your skills do.
