Job Description
Job DescriptionIndustrial Maintenance Technologist – Automation & Conveyors
Location: La Vergne, TN 37086
Hire Type: Full-Time
Shifts: 2nd / 3rd
Pay Range: $32–$35/hr (multi-craft maintenance)
A day in this role
As the plant moves into its evening production run, you’re the go-to expert keeping conveyors, motors, and automation cells in sync. You’ll start with a quick walk-through of key lines, listening for unusual vibration, spotting a belt that needs tension, and lining up in-process PMs so the team can hit its quota without stopping the line. A call comes in from an outside hopper feed: you harness up, head to the elevated platform, and safely restore flow to the mill. Back inside, you connect to an Allen‑Bradley PLC to verify I/O, adjust a VFD parameter, and coordinate with a newer production team to maximize uptime.
What you’ll work on
- Diagnose and resolve issues on industrial equipment, with a strong emphasis on conveyor systems and automation.
- Comfortably interface around PLCs (Allen‑Bradley), VFDs, and Fanuc robots; support troubleshooting and minor adjustments.
- Perform mechanical repairs on gearboxes, motors, and belt drives to keep assets running reliably.
- Execute working PMs during longer production runs to minimize downtime and sustain output targets.
- Support outdoor equipment—about 25% of the job involves working at heights on outside conveyors, motors, and hoppers.
Work environment
- Industrial, “barn-like” setting that’s well ventilated and fairly clean.
- Dry food production—expect a mostly dusty environment; no oil or liquids on the floor.
- Operations are FDA regulated, with cleanliness standards consistently maintained.
What helps you succeed
- Hands-on industrial troubleshooting experience (electrical and mechanical).
- Background with conveyors, automation equipment, PLCs (AB), VFDs, and Fanuc robots.
- Ability to work safely at heights and outdoors.
- Strong collaboration with a growing production team and a focus on uptime.
