HVAC Technician (Contract)

Location: Hercules, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Duration: 6 months
Pay Rate: $50/hourOverview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support onsite facilities and building operations in a commercial environment. This role is responsible for the repair, installation, alteration, and preventive maintenance of HVAC and related mechanical systems, as well as performing minor general building maintenance and responding to facility emergencies. The ideal candidate is hands-on, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial or biotech setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repair, installation, alteration, and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including:
• • Air handlers
  • Exhaust fans
  • Rooftop package units
  • Boilers and chillers
  • Pumps and air compressors
  • HVAC controls and building management systems
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and respond promptly to service requests to minimize downtime
• Support emergency response efforts within buildings as needed
• Perform general building maintenance activities, including but not limited to:
• • Replacing light fixtures and bulbs
  • Performing minor plumbing repairs
  • Replacing damaged ceiling tiles
  • Basic facility and equipment upkeep tasks
• Work collaboratively with facilities and maintenance teams to complete employee-requested work
• Ride with another employee to various onsite locations as required

• Maintain strong in-house maintenance capabilities
• Support fast and effective emergency response times
• Ensure ongoing facility support for employee requests

What You Bring

• Education: High school diploma or GED (required); HVAC trade school certification (preferred)
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience
• Experience working in commercial real estate environments preferred; biotech or laboratory experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of building management systems (ALC software is a plus)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability and willingness to perform minor non-HVAC building maintenance tasks and share technical knowledge with coworkers
