Maintenance Assistant
Job Summary
Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to assist with all repairs and physical maintenance for the community. Ensures preventive maintenance is scheduled and performed on all equipment as needed.
Essential Functions:

Documents preventative maintenance program for facility and equipment.

Maintains grounds including outside community repair, lawn maintenance and garbage removal.

Maintains inside of community, offices, and communal areas in community, including carpet and furniture cleaning, window cleaning, painting, removal of trash and upkeep of vinyl.

Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Maintains and/repairs community equipment; ensures equipment is functioning properly.

Prepares apartments for move-in and completes refurbishing of apartments after moving- out, including painting of apartments.

Observes problems, concerns, issues with resident apartments, the community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.

Coordinates with the local fire department for emergency procedures per state regulations/codes (i.e. fire drills)
Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.

Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
-
2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical repairs, plumbing, and or carpentry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have working knowledge of all necessary local, state and federal safety regulations related to building maintenance and codes.

Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.

Ability to work on a ladder.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, to meet the position's requirements.
