Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated material handling equipment and facility systems within a high-volume distribution center environment. This role supports warehouse operations by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, sortation systems, motors, gearboxes, and other automated distribution center equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.
• Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, meters, and diagnostic tools.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting and support automation systems to maintain operational efficiency.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete corrective maintenance in a timely manner.
• Inspect facility equipment and identify potential issues before they result in downtime.
• Repair and replace motors, bearings, belts, chains, sensors, switches, and other system components.
• Support building maintenance activities, including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and facility repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventive maintenance documentation.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure all equipment complies with company and OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment.
• Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting and identify control system issues.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, and industrial electrical systems.
• Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and workplace safety standards.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights, in confined spaces, and on elevated platforms when necessary.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a distribution center, warehouse, logistics, or automated fulfillment environment.
• Exposure to conveyor systems, sortation equipment, robotics, or automated warehouse technologies.
• Industrial electrical experience, including work with 480V, 3-phase systems preferred.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large automated distribution center operating on a day shift schedule. The environment includes conveyors, sortation equipment, forklifts, automated warehouse systems, and facility support equipment. Team members work in a fast-paced industrial setting and may be required to perform duties on elevated platforms, around moving machinery, and in varying warehouse temperatures while following strict safety procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
