Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance TechnicianJob Description
Join a skilled maintenance team supporting a highly automated food production facility that operates on a 2-2-3 schedule. You will work on three production lines, including a newly installed, advanced line, focusing on keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. The role currently involves a high level of reactive maintenance, with a strong goal to transition toward more preventative maintenance as the team grows. You will work in a food manufacturing environment, follow strict food safety protocols, and support production of frozen sandwich products in a colder facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment, including conveyors, vision systems, suction systems, servo motors, belts, and wrappers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues quickly to minimize downtime in a high-volume food production environment.
- Conduct reactive maintenance on existing production lines while helping the team shift toward more preventative maintenance practices.
- Support installation, adjustment, and optimization of highly automated equipment on the new production line.
- Follow and enforce food safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times while working in a food manufacturing facility.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential problems and recommend corrective actions before failures occur.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians on a crew of up to eight team members to coordinate repairs and share technical knowledge.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.
- Work safely in a colder production environment, adhering to facility safety procedures and using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Provide support across multiple shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule, ensuring consistent equipment reliability for both day and night operations.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of maintenance experience within an industrial setting, with the ability to work independently without extensive training.
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, including hands-on work with conveyors, servo motors, belts, suction systems, and wrappers.
- Proven troubleshooting ability to quickly identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective repairs.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or food maintenance environment with adherence to food safety protocols.
- Comfort working in a colder production environment while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively on a small maintenance team of approximately eight technicians in a fast-paced setting.
- Capability to work a 2-2-3 schedule covering 5am–5pm or 5pm–5am shifts, including nights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with automated production lines that use vision systems, sensors, and servo-driven components.
- Familiarity with food processing equipment and practices, including sanitation considerations in maintenance work.
- Experience supporting highly automated systems with multiple conveyors, eyes, and vision systems.
- Practical, on-the-job maintenance experience is valued more highly than formal degrees for this role.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate work with other technicians and production staff.
- Ability to adapt to evolving maintenance strategies, including a transition from reactive to preventative maintenance.
Why Work Here?
You will join a growing maintenance team in a modern, highly automated food production facility where your experience is genuinely valued. The environment offers a clear focus on improving maintenance practices, giving you the chance to help shape the transition from reactive to preventative maintenance and contribute to long-term reliability improvements. The site operates on a stable 2-2-3 schedule that provides predictable time off, and night shifts include a premium to recognize the added commitment. You will work with advanced equipment and automation, gain exposure to cutting-edge production technology, and collaborate with a close-knit group of technicians under new leadership focused on building a strong, high-performing department.
Work Environment
The role is based in a food manufacturing plant that produces frozen sandwich products, with three production lines including a highly automated new line. The facility operates on a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts from 5am–5pm and 5pm–5am, and night shifts receive a shift premium. The environment is colder due to the nature of the product, and strict food safety and hygiene protocols are followed throughout the facility. You will work as part of an eight-person maintenance department, using tools and equipment suited for mechanical and electrical work on conveyors, servo motors, belts, suction systems, wrappers, and vision systems. The plant emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and reliable production in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting.
