Role Summary
Plays a key role in ensuring that all buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position is ideal for a proactive and hands-on professional who takes pride in creating clean, comfortable, and welcoming environments. Working under the guidance of the Facilities Services Supervisor and Director, you’ll perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks across multiple building systems while contributing to a culture of service excellence and teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain a solid working knowledge of building systems and facility operations.

Serve as the primary contact for any building issues such as climate control, odors, spills, damage, or emergencies.

Create and manage work orders received via phone, email, or in person, ensuring timely updates and clear communication with requesters.

Perform interior and exterior building maintenance, including painting, minor construction, equipment installation, and furniture assembly.

Regularly inspect facility and equipment conditions and make recommendations for maintenance or improvement.

Maintain building equipment, tools, and supply inventories.

Assist in managing and maintaining utilities systems (heating, water, gas, and electricity) under supervisor direction.

Monitor and collaborate with contractors and vendors to ensure that all work meets quality and safety standards.

Support building security and respond promptly to emergencies on a 24-hour basis.

Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixture or valve replacements.

Handle minor electrical tasks such as re-lamping and repairing fixtures or appliances.

Conduct carpentry repairs and installations, including doors, windows, hardware, and furniture.

Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Transport goods, equipment, and materials as needed.

Maintain cleanliness of facilities and perform immediate cleaning duties when required.

Conduct regular inspections (daily, weekly, and monthly) of buildings and systems.

Maintain pools and spas, ensuring proper chemical balance and cleanliness.

Assist in training new team members and providing refresher training as needed.

Follow OSHA regulations for all equipment, chemicals, and projects, including safe labeling, storage, and disposal.

Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Director.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
2–4 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, spa/pool systems, fire alarms, and related equipment.

Ability to work on-call, including overtime, weekends, or emergencies.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work effectively under pressure and time constraints.

Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Excel, Word, email systems, and work order management tools.

A caring and empathetic attitude, with sensitivity toward older or vulnerable populations.
Desired Qualifications

Experience in a healthcare or senior living environment.

Certifications or formal training in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.

Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance standards.
