General Purpose

The General Maintenance Engineer responsibilities is to ensure maintenance tasks of the hotel are performed and completed within the company's guidelines and standards. As a General Maintenance Engineer, you are also responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hotel facilities, equipment, and systems in accordance with safety, guidelines, building codes, and budgeted expenses.

You will perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including but not limited to painting, air conditioner repair and replacement, HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting, plumbing and electrical repairs, and landscaping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities; other duties maybe assigned as required.

  • Ensure all regulatory obligations relating to the execution of operational duties of maintenance team are completed as required
  • Performs general carpentry and repairs to building interiors and exteriors, furniture, and other structures including but not limited to cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and
  • Performs elementary painting, decorating, and finishing of building interiors and exteriors, furniture, and other structures including but not limited to plastering, wallpapering, refinishing, and
  • Performs preventative maintenance in guest rooms according to company
  • Perform basic electrical repairs on items such as light fixtures, switches, outlets, etc. and light plumbing work such as clearing stoppages, replacing fittings, etc.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, repairs, and resolves electrical, plumbing, and other maintenance issues and accurately completes required paperwork.
  • Respond to work orders and guest concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Completes maintenance work orders and follows-up with the guest to ensure
  • Responds to guest complaints within 15 minutes of Completes repair within 45 minutes of notification or provides updates in relation to the timing of completion. Turns in a complete notification of all work finished daily.
  • Ensure effective, timely, and professional interactions on all maintenance services provided.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for the building and fixtures on a daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed basis.
  • Ensures the safety and wellbeing of guests and hotel
  • Makes routine inspections of all facilities - checks banquet rooms, ballrooms, and guest rooms for proper use and safety
  • Assists in emergency situations as required by the hotel's emergency
  • Performs all other related duties as requested by the Chief Engineer, General Manger, or Director of Operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Assisting with snow removal around the property may be required depending upon the type of property conditions
  • Attend meetings/training as required by leadership.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, possessing a positive, outgoing, and naturally curious
  • Must be able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadline with high degree of optimism, professionalism, and skill
  • Ability to work productively with other employees as part of a team environment
  • Ability to handle obstacles in positive and professional manner and to effectively communicate these problems, along with suggestions
  • Proven experience as maintenance engineer
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving
  • Willingness to work overtime; although not required
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision
  • Ability to take direction
  • Strong attention to detail

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years’ experience in hotel or residential building environment
  • 3 years’ experience as maintenance technician
  • Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or relevant field
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA Safety Regulations
  • Property Maintenance experience required; industrial experience is preferred
  • Basic mathematical skills require

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisors and fellow employees. Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and frequently requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing, reaching overhead and using all hand extremities. Frequently requires reaching, grabbing, pulling, and grasping. Ability to reach high places and work safely on ladders. Must be able to work in varying environments, both indoors and outdoors, and able to work safely with chemicals.

HOURS

Due to the seasonal nature of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, night shifts, and/or overtime.
