We are currently seeking a Plant Manager to support our Chaska location. This key leadership role will report to our VP of Operations and will help our customers grow and save money by developing and maintaining a continuously improving lean culture that achieves Operational Excellence across the entire plant.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
1. Continually improve and refine the Manufacturing Value Stream to obtain dramatically shorter manufacturing cycle times, lower costs, world-class quality, and near-perfect schedule adherence.
- Create a Visual Factory
- Develop a changeover reduction program to reduce changeover times continually.
- Implement Total Productive Maintenance to continually improve machine run time and OEE (overall equipment effectiveness).
- Develop, implement, and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the plant.
- Develop and implement a "learning culture" that fosters continuous improvement.
- Create processes that ensure products are manufactured to specifications
- Ensure that batches are made to meet the production schedule while meeting all quality, safety, and financial performance metrics
- Ensure a safe environment for plant employees
2. Working with the Corporate Lean Champion, implement lean throughout the plant better than anyone in our industry.
- Create and continually communicate a customer focused vision for lean at Apex.
- Achieve a level of employee involvement where everyone in the plant is very active in our lean journey.
- Provide leadership and support the training on lean principles, tools and processes for our plant employees.
- Create and monitor standard work for all levels of the plant.
- Institutionalize 6-S throughout the plant
- Measure and benchmark the plant's progress on our lean journey
3. Develop strategic and tactical plans for the plant that consistent with and achieve the corporate vision.
- Participate in the development of the corporate strategic plan. Develop a plant strategic plan for] people, plant and equipment that is integrated and aligned with the corporate strategic plan.
- Participate in the development of the corporate annual Hoshin and tactical planning process.
- Ensure that the plant Hoshins and tactical plans are aligned with the corporate objectives.
- Ensure that all plans are fully cascaded throughout the plant.

5. Perform other work as assigned.
- Direction and oversight of others: Will be responsible for Value Steam Managers.
Qualification and Skill Requirements
- This position requires more than 10 years and less than 20 years of successful experience in an executive production or manufacturing position in an effective Lean environment.
- To be effective, this position requires Customer Focus, Constant Improvement and Results.
- Orientation as core character traits. This position requires manufacturing aptitude, experience, and ability. It has a high demand for manufacturing short to mid-run product cycles in a highly effective and profitable manner.
- Requires an understanding of MRP software such as Alliance. Requires a high level of competence to leverage Apex's ability to innovate and create solutions for customers.
- Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college, resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Licenses and Certifications- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred
