Job Description

Job DescriptionReady to be the go‑to problem solver for a high‑output plant?

Do you thrive on troubleshooting high‑voltage electrical issues, coordinating contractors without missing a beat, and keeping a CMMS humming with accurate data? Can you switch from diagnosing an industrial welder to optimizing HVAC performance—and still make time to coach a teammate?

What you'll own

  • Operational leadership: Keep crews aligned on company initiatives, shift goals, and safety policies. Meet frequently with your supervisor to report issues, craft solutions, and drive departmental alignment.
  • Performance & coaching: Champion recognition for top performers (raises, awards, promotions). Tackle performance gaps through expectation setting, counseling, warnings, and formal disciplinary recommendations when needed.
  • Contractor management: Oversee third‑party onsite contractors to deliver safe, high‑quality major repairs and structural improvements across the facility and construction yard.

Where you'll make an impact

  • Production equipment diagnostics: Troubleshoot and repair a diverse mix of automated and manual machinery, including specialized assets like industrial welding equipment and abrasive blasting equipment.
  • High‑stakes maintenance: Execute heavy‑duty diagnostics and rapid repairs on high‑voltage electrical, plumbing, and specialized manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Partner with engineering: Collaborate with production/manufacturing engineers on process optimization and equipment infrastructure improvements.

Facilities, utilities, and safety systems

  • Critical utilities: Maintain commercial HVAC, electrical distribution systems, and site plumbing for reliable uptime.
  • Life‑safety systems: Test, maintain, and quickly repair fire suppression and detection systems and key mechanical devices across the premises.
  • Response cadence: Balance emergency calls with daily preventive maintenance to keep all assets in top condition.

Tools, yard assets, and data discipline

  • Tools & instruments: Apply expert skill with hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring instruments to isolate and fix faults.
  • Yard & construction support: Assist with upkeep, inspections, and minor repair coordination for staging machinery and structural assets in the active construction yard.
  • Digital rigor: Manage supply inventories and maintenance records using a CMMS, aligned to ISO 9000 Quality System requirements.

Minimum qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of facilities maintenance in manufacturing, heavy industrial, or construction environments.
  • Team leadership: Demonstrated success as a lead, crew leader, or foreman guiding contractors and internal teams.
  • Technical depth: Advanced knowledge of 3‑phase electrical systems, motor controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics; able to interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Software fluency: Proficient with PCs and Windows; strong database experience highly preferred.
  • People & pace: Strong multitasking, interpersonal, and organizational skills suited to a fast‑paced fabrication floor.
  • Language: Basic English (written and verbal) to read industrial blueprints and complete safety documentation.
  • Physical demands: Comfortable working in non‑climate‑controlled settings, lifting 60+ lbs, and operating at heights or in confined spaces.

Working & environmental conditions

  • Environment: Safety‑sensitive role primarily in a temperature‑controlled manufacturing/industrial space with occasional outdoor work.
  • PPE: Able to wear required PPE—safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses—and respirators when necessary.
  • Heights & fall protection: Work from step ladders, A‑frames, and elevated structures (generally up to 20 feet) using proper lift gear and Fall Protection Equipment.
  • Agility & movement: Maintain balance and agility while walking, standing, crouching, stair and ladder use; bend at waist and knees; extend hands/arms freely.
  • Endurance & upper body: Continuous standing/walking; frequent use of upper extremities; work with both arms above shoulder height and fully extended.
  • Lifting & tool use: Lift up to 50 lbs; frequent use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Vision & coordination: Strong hand‑eye coordination; close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
