Seeking a dependable, hands-on Property Maintenance Technician to support our residential rental portfolio in Rockford. Working alongside our maintenance manager, this role handles tenant maintenance requests, general repairs, rental turnovers, and full residential property renovations.
•Main duties: General plumbing repairs, minor electrical work within permitted scope, drywall, painting, carpentry, flooring, door and lock repairs, appliance installation, and preparing properties for tenants.
•Renovation capability: The preferred candidate can take a property from its existing condition through a complete renovation or “flip,” carrying out a broad range of hands-on work and coordinating with specialist contractors where required.
•On-call availability: Preference for someone willing and able to take responsibility for the on-call maintenance phone, assess urgent tenant issues, and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
•Experience and qualifications: A strong practical background in residential maintenance and renovations is more important than formal qualifications. A trade licence is not required for the position but would be an advantage; any work requiring a licensed professional must be handled accordingly.
•Key qualities: Reliable, resourceful, and able to work independently, with good judgment, clear communication, and pride in completing work properly. Candidates should be professional in occupied homes and comfortable documenting repairs and reporting progress.
**This is a field role: the work happens at customer and job sites rather than at a single worksite, and you will be based within driving distance of the job location. Expect day trips to job sites, with every night at home.
