Job Title: Custodian
Department: Facilities / Maintenance
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Job Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within assigned facilities. This role ensures that manufacturing areas, restrooms, and common work areas are cleaned, sanitized, and well-maintained to support daily operations and promote a healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, and other facility areas as needed
- Sweep, mop and perform floor care on epoxy coating in manufacturing areas
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces as directed
- Follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals properly
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report any malfunctions
- Setup and break down rooms for meetings or events as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies and health regulations
Qualifications:
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (buffers, vacuums, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks
- Comfortable working in various environments (indoors/outdoors, in manufacturing lab environment and different temperatures)
Work Environment:
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or early morning shifts based on business needs.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, cleaning equipment, and varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided as required.
