Job DescriptionShape a safe, reliable manufacturing environment—one shift at a time

Start your day walking the floor with the Production & Facilities Manager, prioritizing preventive maintenance, contractor activities, and urgent work orders. Before noon, you might be troubleshooting a piece of manufacturing equipment, inspecting a fire alarm panel, or adjusting a Johnson Controls building automation setting. In the afternoon, you could be sampling stormwater, preparing an RFQ for a capital upgrade, and delivering a quick toolbox talk to keep safety front and center. You wrap up by updating stakeholders with clear written and verbal reports.

Facilities responsibilities

  • Receive training in Hazardous Materials Handling and apply it in daily work.
  • Coordinate day-to-day facilities and production maintenance with contract and sub-contract personnel.
  • Execute complex, skilled maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Care for grounds and roadways to keep the site clean and safe.
  • Perform intricate repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Partner with the Manager to maintain appropriate inventory of materials, tools, and safety equipment.
  • Support capital improvement projects when needed.
  • Deliver timely written and/or verbal reports and updates on facilities, maintenance, and capital activities.
  • Develop scopes of work and RFQ’s as necessary.
  • Operate and interpret building automation and life-safety systems, including Johnson Controls Management System, Fire Control Systems, Alarm Systems, and Building Access Systems.
  • Travel and work outside of normal business hours as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Health & Safety responsibilities

  • Champion a positive safety culture across the site.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to meet EHS compliance obligations: deliver required training, conduct environmental sampling and inspections, complete program evaluations, and support external reporting and certifications.

Environmental & Emergency Response responsibilities

  • Partner with operations and facility teams to maintain compliance with the facility’s permits and plans: State Facility Air Permit; Sanitary Sewer Use Permit (including Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plan); Stormwater Permit (including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan); Asbestos Management Plan; and Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS) Management Plan.
  • Recommend and support initiatives that reduce waste (especially hazardous waste) and increase recycling for both hazardous and non-hazardous streams.
  • Address assigned environmental and emergency response corrective actions promptly.
  • Assist with environmental training for key personnel as required by regulation or the environmental management system.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local Facilities and EHS regulations and trends.

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum five (5) years in facilities, engineering, and/or environmental roles; experience with construction, engineering, project design, contracts, specifications, and project management preferred.
  • HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • RCRA training currently held or obtained within 30 days of hire (required).
  • HVAC maintenance experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems.
  • Ability to read/create AutoCAD drawings, schematics, installation drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards, including NEC and NFPA 70E.
  • General understanding of ISO requirements and practical working knowledge.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Clear written and verbal communication; organized and effective with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on approach for troubleshooting, project installation, and startup.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Physical demands

  • Active manufacturing/maintenance environment requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
