Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 40+ Hours Per Week | On-Call Rotation May Be Required

Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 per Hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Barge Properties is seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Maintenance Technician to help support the daily operations and maintenance of our apartment communities.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, solving problems, learning new skills, and providing excellent service to residents. Working alongside experienced maintenance professionals, you will assist with apartment turns, preventative maintenance, service requests, grounds upkeep, and general property maintenance.

Whether you are beginning a career in multifamily maintenance or bringing experience from construction, facilities maintenance, hospitality, or a related trade, we provide opportunities to learn, grow, and advance within the property management industry.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive communities. Successful candidates are dependable, eager to learn, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Assistant Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Assist with daily maintenance operations throughout the property
  • Help complete resident service requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Support routine and preventative maintenance activities
  • Assist with apartment turns and make-ready projects
  • Perform painting, cleaning, drywall repair, and minor repairs as needed
  • Assist with maintaining common areas, amenities, and property grounds
  • Help identify maintenance issues before they become larger repairs
  • Follow safety policies and company procedures
  • Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance documentation
  • Support senior maintenance team members with larger projects and repairs
  • Assist with inventory organization and maintenance supplies as needed

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred

  • Previous experience in:
    • Apartment maintenance
    • Property maintenance
    • Facilities maintenance
    • Construction
    • Landscaping
    • Building maintenance
  • Experience using maintenance management software
  • Trade school or vocational training
  • EPA Certification (not required)

WORK HOURS & LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires full-time, on-site presence at our Temple, TX (76504) property.
  • The standard schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
  • Some evening, weekend, and on-call work may be required
  • Occasional travel to nearby properties, vendors, or supply locations as needed
