Maintenance Technician - Direct Hire
Location: Charleston, SC
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $62,400 - $68,420
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support facility and manufacturing operations by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and building equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and experience supporting industrial manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify malfunctions, safety concerns, and repair needs.
- Install, maintain, and service manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Diagnose equipment failures, replace defective components, test repairs, and make operational adjustments.
- Conduct minor electrical repairs including switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, fuses, cords, and related components.
- Perform facility maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Ensure proper functionality of safety equipment and systems, including fire alarms and emergency eyewash stations.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for facility improvements and specialized repairs.
- Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory levels for critical production equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and material handling devices safely and effectively.
- Document maintenance activities, repair records, and equipment recommendations.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance and production work areas.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and maintenance procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or processing environment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and measuring instruments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with SAP or CMMS maintenance systems preferred.
- Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial manufacturing experience.
- Experience working with mixers, milling equipment, pumps, conveyors, motors, and processing equipment.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and environmental compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA regulations, and industrial safety practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
- Ability to pass annual respirator fit testing.
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
