Position Summary

  • The Lead Custodian role is responsible for managing physical maintenance, appearance and cleanliness of the agency's facilities and property. By managing support staff and vendors, documenting progress, and performing routine manual tasks the Lead Custodian will ensure a sanitary, comfortable and safe environment for all employees, clients, and guests. An effective person in this role will (1) possess collaborative interpersonal skills, (2) exhibit problem solving abilities to repair and maintain building systems, (3) document and communicate progress, (4) demonstrate willingness to take direction and receive feedback, and (5) be flexible for changing business needs. Finally, The Lead Custodian role will demonstrate a positive work attitude when working with other staff members that may have diverse backgrounds and skills.

Position Responsibilities

Vision & Communication

  • Make a positive contribution to the environment at ReVive Center by supporting its goals and objectives.

  • Maintain open lines of communication, keeping all stakeholders, including the Director of Operations (DO) and Executive Director (ED), informed of all critical issues.

  • Display professional behaviors in all personal interaction with staff, tenants and clients.

  • Adhere to an established work schedule.

Functional Lead

  • Maintain schedule for support staff and vendors.

  • Supervise support staff and vendors.

  • Document online work orders.

  • Support all building maintenance contractors as directed by DO, including pest control contractors.

  • Inventory supplies and report usage to DO. Prepare supply orders for janitorial and maintenance supplies with DO.

Maintenance

  • Maintain schedule and perform regular maintenance for building systems, including elevator, HVAC, and extermination.

  • Make general repairs as required to reduce need for 3rd party contractors. Including light plumbing and light electrical work. Plumbing examples include clearing drains and toilets. Electrical examples include replacing light bulbs and electric fixtures as needed.

  • Report maintenance issues to DO. Assist DO with maintenance tasks as needed.

  • Prepare apartments at the time of tenant turnover including but not limited to cleaning and painting.

  • Secure all property. Report any issues that impact security of building and property.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Custodian

  • Perform routine custodial duties including vacuuming, mopping, dusting of staff offices and finished common areas throughout property.

  • Ensure restricted areas remain open and free of debris. Remove trash from basement areas, sweep / vacuum basement. Remove trash from roof areas.

  • Maintain a litter-free building exterior. Sweep sidewalks, alley, parking lot and curbs of litter and shovel snow as needed.

  • Clean interior and exterior windows.

  • Follow directions and establish routines for the proper use of material and supplies as prescribed by product instructions.

  • Set up meeting room(s) as needed.

  • Move office furniture, equipment and supplies.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Position Requirement

  • Experience managing support personnel.

  • Experience using software applications, including time keeping (ADP), Google Suite, Excel, Email, and shopping applications.

  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions and training as provided for processes, supplies and equipment.

  • Experience using non-motorized equipment to ensure safety of self and others, including wrench, hammer, saw and screwdriver.

  • Ability to operate motorized equipment to ensure safety of self and others, including drill, saw and motorized cleaning tools.

  • Ability to write and manage maintenance schedules.

  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.

  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive attitude.

  • Commitment to ReVive Center’s mission.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish (preferred)

Details and Terms (effective 6/19/2025)

  • The role of Custodian is “at will” and can be terminated at any time with or without cause.

  • 40 hour per week

  • Starting pay for this position is $21.00 per hour.
