Job Title: Facilities Engineer

Job Description

The Facilities Engineer role is a fully onsite position that supports sr. staff in the initiation, design, and delivery of projects with a strong focus on facilities-related scope. This junior-level opportunity is ideal for professionals with approximately 4–5 years of experience in project engineering and coordination, who can apply engineering practices to translate user requirements into technical documentation for execution by third-party firms. The role offers standard working hours with occasional flexibility and requires a proactive, detail-oriented engineer who can manage tasks to completion within a dynamic facilities management environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support sr. engineering and facilities staff in the initiation, design, and delivery of facilities-related projects.
  • Gather user requirements and translate them into clear, accurate technical documentation for execution by third-party firms.
  • Assist with project definition by performing engineering studies and assessments of facility systems.
  • Conduct quality-focused facilities walkdowns to evaluate system performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform field evaluations of existing facility systems and provide engineering design recommendations based on findings.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and serve as a delegate in commissioning walks for the facilities management team.
  • Apply engineering problem-solving skills to address issues related to facilities systems and project execution.
  • Manage assigned tasks from initiation through completion, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to support project coordination.
  • Support change controls, deviations, and CAPAs related to facilities projects and systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of facilities management processes through proactive identification of issues and solutions.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience with facilities management and facilities-related projects.
  • Approximately 4–5 years of experience in a junior-level engineering role with project engineering and coordination responsibilities.
  • Strong commissioning experience, including participation in commissioning walks.
  • Hands-on experience with facilities walkdowns and field evaluations of existing systems.
  • Ability to perform engineering studies and assessments for facility systems.
  • Demonstrated engineering problem-solving skills applied to real-world facilities challenges.
  • Ability to gather user requirements and convert them into precise technical documentation for third-party execution.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and manage tasks through to completion.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience working with change controls, deviations, and CAPAs in a facilities or engineering environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or related discipline, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Associate degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience, OR
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of projects and tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate with third-party firms and support multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and project execution.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and occasional schedule flexibility.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role in a facilities-focused environment where you will spend significant time in the field conducting walkdowns, commissioning activities, and system evaluations. Standard working hours apply, with occasional flexibility based on project needs and commissioning schedules. You will collaborate closely with sr. engineering staff, facilities management teams, and third-party firms, using engineering tools and documentation practices to support project delivery. The setting involves active engagement with building systems and infrastructure, requiring attention to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while working on-site throughout the day.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Holly Springs, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
