Position Summary
The Cleaning Specialist will be a temporary part of the cleaning team at The Hope Center, a ministry of Building Hope in the City (BHITC), responsible for maintaining a clean and safe facility. This position is specifically assigned to Sunday cleaning needs associated with a facility rental agreement. This role also assists in watching for and reporting maintenance issues, as well as handling specialty cleaning as needed.
Position Details
- Part-time, non-exempt position (approximately 6–10 hours per week)
- Sunday-only schedule
- Work location is onsite at The Hope Center, 15135 Triskett Rd., Cleveland, OH
- Reports to the Facilities Manager
- This position is tied to the duration of a facility rental contract and is expected to continue only for as long as the rental agreement and associated Sunday cleaning needs remain in effect. Permanent employment and/or additional work may or may not be available following the conclusion of the rental agreement.
Primary Job Duties
- Cleaning Floors:
- Dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting as well as spot cleaning glass and windows
- Cleaning Offices/Restrooms/Classrooms:
- Including restocking dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing furniture and fixtures. Spot cleaning partitions, doors, and walls
- Maintaining cleanliness of common areas/ hallways, and connection hubs
- Emptying trash and replacing liners.
- Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and requesting replenishments, as needed
- Collaborating with the other members of the cleaning team to ensure consistent and efficient cleaning operations
- Assisting in set-up and tear down of event space(s), ensuring everything is back in place for Monday morning business
- Adhering to cleaning schedules and completing assigned tasks within designated timeframes
Key Skills
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques (mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, glass cleaning, restroom cleaning)
- Safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Attention to sanitation standards
- Basic maintenance awareness - ability to notice and report facility issues (leaks, damage, etc.)
Qualifications
- Ability to safely bend, move and twist to clean and operate cleaning tools/machinery
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs
- Ability to stand on feet and work consistently for several hours without sitting
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
- Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting at $15 per hour, commensurate with experience
