As a Maintenance Technician within our food company, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of production equipment and facilities. Your responsibilities will include performing routine inspections, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting repairs, and carrying out preventative maintenance tasks on machinery, conveyors, refrigeration units, and other food processing equipment. You will be expected to respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Clear documentation of maintenance activities, accurate reporting of incidents, and collaboration with production teams are essential. Candidates must demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Familiarity with food industry regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is preferred. ENVIRONMENT • Full time position • Must be willing to work in refrigerated environment – Cold / Wet 36°ree;- 40°ree;F • Must be able to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as scheduled or needed • Must work in a professional and courteous manor with subordinates and peers JOB
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Minimum three years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing background preferred • At least 2 years of electrical or programming experience preferred • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems required • Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools and precision measuring • Must have strong knowledge of electrical wiring repairs and installations, AC/DC controls and schematic diagrams • Forklift and scissor lift experience and certification a plus • Troubleshoot & replace 3 Phase motors & VFDs • Ability to read electrical schematics • Experience with low voltage DC Circuits as well as a wide range of electrical devices (proximity switches, photo eyes, relays, contactors, safety relays, push buttons) • Read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings • Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and standard safety circuits • Trouble shoot hydraulics, and pneumatics • Use multi-Meter proficiently as needed for repair and troubleshooting • Repair and rebuild electrical and mechanical components as needed • Installation, modification, and fabrication of equipment to meet production needs and schedules • Communicate maintenance situations clearly from one shift to another, including Maintenance Team Leader and Manager • Plant wide accountabilities for operational aspects including progress toward quality and production goals • Participate in continuous improvement in safety, quality and housekeeping • Other tasks as determined by the Manager • The ability to identify worn bushings or bearings and change as needed • The ability to (Tig, Stick, and Mig Although we commonly use Tig) • Record repairs and maintenance work orders
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: • Strong industrial electrical experience required • Minimum of High School Diploma and 2+ years of Industrial Maintenance experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics, Conveyers, 3 p-phase motors, variable speed drivers and controls • Ability to work with minimal supervision within a team environment • Must have good practical sense working with and troubleshooting equipment problems • Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred but NOT required EMPLOYEE AND FOOD
SAFETY • Conducts all work in accordance with sound safety practices and proper work methods or procedures; wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required • Comply with all environmental laws and regulations for chemicals and lubricants as well as disposal and storage • Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements and understand what Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) are and is willing and able to fully support these requirements • Conducts routine safety checks on the production equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • The employee must submit to post offer, pre-employment drug test and employment history check. • The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time.
