Job Description

This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of machinery, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems in a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Technician uses testing instruments, hand and power tools, precision-measuring instruments, and diagnostic techniques to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. The position also supports preventive maintenance programs, minor building repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall equipment performance and facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of machine tools, attachments, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, disassemble equipment, repair or replace parts, and reassemble, align, and adjust machinery to proper specifications.
  • Fabricate small replacement parts such as shafts, pins, and bushings using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Perform simple cutting and welding tasks as needed to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Carry out analytical troubleshooting and complex maintenance functions on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical equipment including motors, power and lighting circuits, starters, and circuit breakers.
  • Diagnose electrical circuits, including solid-state controls, and perform necessary repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair computer-equipped controllers for manufacturing equipment.
  • Create or update electrical schematics when required to support accurate maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform minor building repairs as needed to support facility upkeep and safety.
  • Use shop mathematics, charts, tables, and handbook formulas to support accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Work from complex drawings, wiring diagrams, and sketches to perform installations, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Use a wide variety of measuring instruments with a solid understanding of machine tool operation, methods, and materials.
  • Assist and instruct lower-level maintenance personnel or apprentices, providing guidance and on-the-job training.
  • Operate the preventive maintenance system to log maintenance activities, review machine maintenance history, and analyze preventive maintenance effectiveness.
  • Maintain, issue, and complete work orders, and communicate with outside suppliers for replacement parts and technical services as needed.
  • Perform audits of facility security and utility services, and repair or escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Complete all relevant training provided and apply new knowledge to daily maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in alignment with facility standards.
  • Promote and adhere to 5S+1 initiatives and support continuous improvement of workplace organization.
  • Promote a team-oriented environment and assist with training new employees.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Understand and follow all relevant ISO 9001 QOPs and API 671 guidelines in daily work.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed to support efficient and safe plant operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician working with machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong ability to diagnose, disassemble, repair, replace, reassemble, align, and adjust mechanical components.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of machine tools, attachments, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment installation and maintenance, including motors, power and light circuits, starters, and circuit breakers.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical circuits, including solid-state controls.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing computer-equipped controllers for manufacturing equipment.
  • Capability to perform simple cutting and welding tasks safely and accurately.
  • Proficiency in using testing instruments, hand and power tools, and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and work from complex mechanical and electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and sketches.
  • Competence in using shop mathematics, charts, tables, and handbook formulas for measurements and calculations.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of measuring instruments and a solid understanding of machine tool operation, methods, and materials.
  • Strong commitment to safety procedures and adherence to facility standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to operate a preventive maintenance system and accurately log maintenance activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience creating or updating electrical schematics.
  • Background in performing minor building repairs in an industrial setting.
  • Experience assisting and instructing junior maintenance staff or apprentices.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 QOPs and API 671 guidelines.
  • Willingness to advance through continued training and education.
  • Commitment to promoting 5S+1 initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, including plastics, metal, or related operations.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to support and train new employees.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an air-conditioned machine shop, providing a comfortable and modern work setting that is uncommon in many industrial environments. The technician works with a wide range of machinery, electrical systems, and computer-equipped controllers, using testing instruments, hand and power tools, precision-measuring devices, and other shop equipment. All tools required for the job are provided by the facility. Safety and cleanliness are prioritized, with expectations to maintain a safe and clean work area and to follow all safety procedures, ISO 9001 QOPs, and API 671 guidelines. Depending on the specific area of the plant, employees may be required to wear specialized footwear, such as safety toe boots or metatarsal shoes, in line with facility safety standards. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Florence, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $60320.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
