Job Description

SCI, the Leader in Real Estate Executive Search®, has been retained by one of the Chicago area's largest non-profit, community-focused owners and operators of high-quality affordable seniors housing to recruit a Property Manager.

\n

\n

This role leads the day-to-day operations of a senior housing community — occupancy, rent collection, compliance, and the resident experience — while leading the on-site team that makes it all work. Our client is committed to giving seniors best-in-class communities to call home, so the ideal candidate brings a high level of customer service and sharp attention to detail, recognizing that good management isn't just about the building — it's about the people who live there.

\n

What you'll do

\n

    \n
  • Own the community's operations end to end — occupancy, rent collection, budgets, and KPIs
  • \n

  • Keep the property inspection-ready and compliant with HUD, IHDA, City of Chicago, and REACH standards
  • \n

  • Manage the full resident lifecycle: marketing, move-ins, re-certifications, and move-outs
  • \n

  • Build real relationships with residents and respond to their needs with care and urgency
  • \n

  • Lead, coach, and develop your on-site team into a high-performing, purpose-driven crew
  • \n

  • Handle emergencies as they come — including after hours and weekends
  • \n

\n

\n

What you bring

\n

    \n
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience (Associate's degree preferred; Bachelor's + 5 years is a plus)
  • \n

  • Sharp attention to detail, strong record-keeping, and the ability to juggle competing priorities
  • \n

  • Confident communicator who can explain funding guidelines and handle resident matters with tact
  • \n

  • Knowledge of housing regulations (HUD, IHDA, REACH, MOR) and staff supervision experience preferred
  • \n

  • Willingness to earn your NCHM Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) certification within 18 months
  • \n
