Job Description
ABOUT GDS WEALTH MANAGEMENT
GDS Wealth Management is an independent registered investment advisor based in Flower Mound, Texas. We serve families and business owners across the region with a team of roughly 50 professionals who take the fiduciary standard personally. Our culture is built on five values we actually use: Pursuit of Excellence, No Drama, Kaizen, Grit, and Excuses or Results. If you have led compliance somewhere that treated the function as a checkbox, this will feel different. Here the compliance program protects the client experience that our entire firm is built around.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will serve as GDS's Technology Manager with ownership of the firm's internal technology function. This role is responsible for the strategy, administration, and continuous improvement of the firm's business systems, technology vendors, and internal technology operations. While our outsourced managed service provider ("MSP") manages infrastructure and cybersecurity operations, you will own the relationship, hold vendors accountable, and ensure technology supports the firm's long-term business objectives.
You will serve as the firm's internal technology lead, partnering closely with consultants, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are successfully implemented, documented, and optimized.
We are looking for someone with a builder's mindset who enjoys creating scalable processes, improving systems, and shaping how technology supports the business. As the firm grows, you will develop the internal technology function, mentor junior team members, and build a high-performing team over time.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Technology Strategy and Leadership
• Develop and execute GDS's technology roadmap, partnering with business stakeholders, implementation consultants, and technology vendors to deliver scalable solutions aligned with the firm's strategic and operational goals.
• Lead technology implementations from requirements gathering through deployment, including solution design, configuration, testing, user acceptance, documentation, and successful adoption.
• Assume long-term ownership of the firm's technology ecosystem, continuously optimizing business platforms, integrations, workflows, and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Build and lead the internal technology function by establishing standards, governance, documentation, and repeatable processes while mentoring and developing junior team members as the firm grows.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving by identifying opportunities to leverage technology to better serve employees, advisors, and clients.
Business Systems
• Own the administration, optimization, and long-term strategy of HubSpot, Advyzon, and other core business applications.
• Design, build, and maintain workflows, automations, integrations, and system configurations that improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
• Manage user provisioning, permissions, reporting, and data integrity while establishing standards for system governance and documentation.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement technology solutions that enhance the advisor, employee, and client experience.
• Continuously evaluate and improve business systems to ensure they remain scalable, reliable, and aligned with the firm's evolving needs.
Vendor and IT Management
• Own and manage the relationship with the firm's MSP, including performance management, service levels, technology initiatives, and strategic planning to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Oversee technology vendors, software contracts, licensing, renewals, and service agreements across the firm's technology ecosystem.
• Coordinate technology operations, including user provisioning, access management, equipment lifecycle, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support cybersecurity, business continuity, disaster recovery, and technology governance.
• Monitor the firm's technology environment, identify risks and opportunities, and drive continuous improvements to security, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
• 7+ years of progressive experience in technology management, business systems, or IT leadership with hands-on ownership of enterprise technology platforms.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing employees, including performance management and team development.
• Hands-on experience administering business applications such as HubSpot, including workflow automation, data management, user administration, and system optimization.
• Experience managing third-party technology vendors, including managed service providers (MSPs) and software providers.
• Proven ability to balance strategic technology planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong documentation, organizational, and project management skills with a focus on building scalable, repeatable processes.
Preferred
• Experience in wealth management, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Experience administering Advyzon or a comparable portfolio management or CRM platform.
• HubSpot certifications.
• Experience supporting a professional services organization with approximately 25-150 employees.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, ADP, or comparable business applications.
• Experience building or scaling an internal technology function.
WHO THRIVES HERE
You've led people before and you're honest about performance. You can develop someone who has the ability and make a change when they don't.
You think in systems, not tasks. Platforms aren't just tools to manage; they're infrastructure that either enables the business or creates drag.
You can lead a strategy discussion in the morning and build a HubSpot workflow in the afternoon. Neither feels beneath you.
You build process before you need it. Documentation, standards, and structure are how you protect the function as it grows.
Vendors are accountable to you. You track contracts, hold SLAs, and flag issues before they become problems.
You're self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity. You don't need a playbook handed to you - you write it.
OUR CULTURE
Five behaviors define how we work: with clients, with each other, and with ourselves.
No Drama
Don't start it, don't tolerate it. We solve problems, not politics.
Kaizen
Constant improvement is not a buzzword here. If we stop growing, we stop winning.
Pursuit of Excellence
Hold yourself to the highest standard. Urgency and accountability are not optional.
Grit
Embrace the hard stuff. Be a bison, not a cow. Run toward the storm.
Excuses or Results
Own your outcomes. No finger-pointing, no victims, no whining.
WHAT WE OFFER
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Final compensation discussed during the offer stage.
Health Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) with company contributions.
Environment
Small, high-trust team where your work is visible and your decisions actually move things. No layers, no bureaucracy.
Ownership
Real autonomy, built on alignment with leadership. Strategy is set together. Execution is yours.
Trajectory
This role grows with GDS. As the firm scales, so does the scope.
