The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all facility systems and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems. This role follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable operation of building and production equipment. The technician will work on food manufacturing equipment, including processing and packaging systems, and must be able to read and interpret owner’s manuals, blueprints, and other technical documents.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on facility systems and equipment.
- Follow SOPs to carry out preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ensure reliable operation of building and production equipment.
- Work on food manufacturing equipment, including processing and packaging systems.
- Read and interpret owner’s manuals, blueprints, and other technical documents.
- Conduct electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Repair conveyors, belts, photo eye sensors, balers, and wrap machines.
- Handle electricity up to 480V.
- Use spreadsheets and databases to track and document work.
- Communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills
- Experience in facilities maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Understanding of conveyors and ability to repair belts and photo eye sensors.
- Competence in general building maintenance, including plumbing, drywall, painting, and electrical work.
- Comfortable with HVAC troubleshooting, wiring, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, drywall, motors, and hydraulics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Ability to read blueprint and schematic diagrams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred Electrical Certification or HVAC Certification.
- Ability to work with outside contractors.
- Problem-solving and time management skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate various maintenance equipment such as hand and power tools, snow plow equipment, and forklifts.
- Must have own tools.
- Reliability, dependability, multitasking ability, and flexibility in scheduling and after-hours calls.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surprise, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
